I had the great privilege of working with a group of friends from The Living Room at a young woman’s house yesterday.
Nothing puts me in the Christmas Spirit like Giving, and these folks gave up their Sunday to Give.
I was on a painting team that painted two bedrooms, and other teams laid flooring and raked leaves as well.
There was lots of cleaning and hauling away and then a big truck showed up with donated furniture and a great mattress, box spring and bed frame.
The Bible says “It is more blessed to give than receive”. I felt so blessed in giving, but also in watching others give. I was overwhelmed with the generosity that I saw yesterday and so happy to lend a hand to help a young mom with five kids who lost her husband in 2005.
This poem from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow sums it up:
“Kind hearts are the gardens,
Kind thoughts are the roots,
Kind words are the flowers,
Kind deeds are the fruits.
Take care of your garden, and keep out the weeds.
Fill it with sunshine, kind words and kind deeds.”
Thanks to all the people from The Living Room! My heart was touched by all of you yesterday!
What a special Blessing you all were to give of yourselves to Help such a family in need have a
better life.and especially now at Christmas Time showing your Christian Love with your warmth
and Generosity , I’m sure they will never forget all your Kindness , Jesus is Shining on them thru
all of You because you took the time to touch someone , That is what it is about !
In His Loving Grace, Christine
I cannot think of a better thing to do at Christmas, or anytime for that matter. When people need help, we need to step into their world and help as much as we can, forgetting out own worries and thoughts for a moment. Anna, your team has done a wonderful thing here! Here’s to you and the others in your group!
Merry Christmas!
Thanks for your support! I would love to hear what others are doing at this Christmastime, in their gardens or in the community. Feel free to share your stories here!
What a wonderful gift to that single mom – and I know you were all blessed to participate. Thanks for sharing!
